has been raised

A project to raise between £15,000 - £20,000 to replace the 36ft fishing trawler that the Chandani family lost in the Tsunami of 2004. Seventeen people in the village of Telwatta worked on this boat. Through the close-knit nature of Sri Lankan extended families, the boat will provide a living for a very large number of people in Telwatta.

No money will be given directly. The project will purchase the trawler from a local boat yard and then present it to the village, along with nets, fridges and satellite equipment. For more information about the boat click here

The boat was bought on 4th April 2011, to keep updated with the impact that the boat is having please visit http://boatforsrilanka.posterous.com
